Backstage Report: Scrapped WarGames Plans & Secret Screen Tests (Dec 1, 2025)

WWE Backstage News Report 2025

Following a chaotic Survivor Series: WarGames, exclusive backstage details have emerged regarding the original booking for the Men’s main event and the secret measures WWE took to hide their biggest surprises. Here is the full breakdown of today’s top stories.

Scrapped Plans for Men’s WarGames Match Revealed

According to a new report from Fightful Select, the Men’s WarGames match we saw on Saturday—Team Vision vs. Team Roman—underwent massive creative changes just 48 hours before the show.

The “Seth Rollins” Factor

Internal sources confirm that the original 5th member for Roman Reigns’ team was scheduled to be a returning Seth “Freakin” Rollins. The plan was for Rollins and Reigns to bury the hatchet in a major emotional moment. However, Rollins was reportedly not medically cleared in time due to a lingering knee issue. As a result, CM Punk was moved from a planned singles match into the WarGames match to fill the star power gap.

Original Finish Changed

Furthermore, the finish of the match was heavily debated. The original script called for Cody Rhodes to pin Bron Breakker to set up a title match at Royal Rumble. This was “scrapped” on Friday morning in favor of the “Mystery Attacker” angle. Triple H reportedly wanted to protect Breakker’s momentum and create a “whodunit” storyline for the winter, leading to the decision to have Team Roman lose via interference.

Backstage News On WWE Using Talent Not Scheduled For Survivor Series To Test Screens

WWE is becoming increasingly paranoid about leaks, and this weekend was proof. Reports indicate that during the technical rehearsals at Petco Park, production crews ran entrance videos and music for several superstars who were not in the building, purely to confuse “dirt sheet” reporters and fans watching from nearby hotels.

Who Was Tested?

Witnesses confirmed seeing screen tests for:

  • “Stone Cold” Steve Austin: His glass-shatter graphic was played twice, sparking wild rumors of a return that was never planned.
  • MJF (Maxwell Jacob Friedman): In a shocking move, WWE production tested a generic “Wolf of Wrestling” graphic. While MJF is currently a free agent in 2025, he was not at the show. This was likely done to make staff think he was the “Mystery Attacker.”
  • Charlotte Flair: Although she didn’t appear, her “Queen” graphics were tested, possibly to hide the actual return of Liv Morgan later in the night.

This tactic appears to have worked, as betting odds swung wildly in the hours leading up to the show, keeping the actual surprises—like Liv Morgan’s heel turn and the masked attacker—completely under wraps.

Coming Up Tonight on Raw: We expect CM Punk to address these rumors and potentially call out the “Mystery Attacker” who cost him the match. Stay tuned for live coverage.
